At The Scent, we take fragrance sourcing, handling, and preparation seriously. This Authenticity Manual explains the practical steps we follow before any fragrance sample is prepared and sent to a customer.
This page is designed to show how we verify, inspect, decant, label, and dispatch every fragrance sold through our store.
The Scent is a trading name of ZAKARIA NOOR LTD (Company No. 17222406), registered in England and Wales.
Before placing an order with a new supplier, The Scent checks that the supplier is a legitimate fragrance wholesaler or established fragrance supplier.
This includes reviewing supplier details, checking their business credibility, and confirming that the fragrances supplied are genuine original retail products.
We only work with reputable UK-based wholesalers and suppliers with a verifiable trading history.
A record of approved suppliers is maintained internally, and supplier invoices are retained on file for stock purchased.
When stock arrives, every retail bottle is inspected before it enters our inventory.
Our inspection process includes:
Packaging integrity — factory seals, cellophane wrapping, and box condition are checked for signs of tampering, damage, or irregularity.
Batch code verification — batch codes on the bottle and packaging are checked for consistency where available.
Labelling accuracy — the brand name, product name, concentration, and volume are checked against the known retail product.
Visual inspection — where visible, fragrance colour and clarity are checked against expected references for that fragrance.
Any stock that does not pass inspection is separated and is not offered for sale.
Each fragrance sample is prepared using dedicated decanting equipment.
Our process is as follows:
We do not alter, dilute, or modify the fragrance.
Before an order is packed, the completed sample is checked against the customer’s order.
We check:
Correct fragrance — the brand and product name match the order.
Correct volume — the selected size matches the filled atomiser.
Secure closure — the atomiser is closed properly and checked for leakage.
Correct labelling — the label information is accurate and legible.
If anything is incorrect, the item is corrected before dispatch.
Completed orders are packed securely to help prevent leakage or damage during transit.
Each order is prepared with care and packed according to the size and quantity of samples ordered.
Orders are dispatched via Royal Mail within one business day of being placed, Monday to Friday.
For delivery timeframes and tracking information, please refer to our Shipping Policy.
The Scent has a strict zero-tolerance policy on counterfeit, replica, imitation, or adulterated fragrance products.
No product that fails our inspection process is offered for sale under any circumstances.
If a customer has any concern about a product they have received, we ask them to contact us immediately with their order details so we can investigate and resolve the matter as a priority.
For damaged, leaking, faulty, or incorrect items, please refer to our Refund & Return Policy and Warranty page.
